Set up a content approval workflow for social media. Choose whose posts need review, then approve them or send them back with a note.
A content approval workflow makes sure no post goes out before the right person has checked it. In sona.to you choose whose posts need approval; their posts wait on an Approvals page, where an approver publishes them, edits them or sends them back with a note. The approval workflow page sums it up.
Why use a social media approval process
A typo under a client's name, a wrong price or an off-tone joke is public the moment it is published. A review step catches these while they are still drafts. It also lets you hand posting to a new teammate, a freelancer or an intern without giving up control, and leaves a record of who approved what.
How the approval workflow works in sona.to
1. Choose whose posts need approval. When you invite a member, or later from their row on the Team page, turn on "Posts need approval".
2. The member sends the post for approval. They write the post as usual, pick the channels and the time and click "Send for approval". The post shows as waiting for approval.
3. Approvers are told. The team owner and members who manage the team see the waiting count in the sidebar and get a grouped email and a notification.
4. Approve, edit, send back or delete. On the Approvals page, the approver reads the post with its channels and time. Approve schedules it for its time, or publishes it at once if its time has passed. Edit lets you fix a detail first. Send back returns it to the author as a draft with your note. Delete removes it.
5. The author is told. A post sent back reaches the author by email and in their notifications, with the note, so they know what to change.
A record of every decision
The Team page keeps an activity list of approvals, posts sent back and deletions, with who did it and when.
Posts from other apps follow the same rule
A member whose posts need approval can also create posts through the API, MCP or an automation app. Those posts go to the Approvals page too, instead of being published.
Who should need approval
Approval is set per member, so it fits each person: turn it on for a new teammate, a freelancer or a client who writes their own posts, and leave it off for the people who already publish with confidence. See the collaboration guide for the other member options.
