Broadcasts to every follower
Connect your LINE Official Account with the channel access token and channel secret from your LINE Developers Console. From then on, a scheduled post goes out as a broadcast to everyone who follows your account.
A broadcast can also be sent silently. Turn on silent delivery and the message still arrives in the chat, but no push notification is sent. It suits anything that does not need to buzz a phone.
Captions of five thousand characters
A LINE caption can run to five thousand characters, and the countdown in the composer counts characters rather than bytes. A Thai or Japanese caption gets the full five thousand, the same as an English one.
The countdown is there to show you where you stand. Nothing is blocked on length, because LINE applies its own limit when the broadcast arrives.
Photos, videos and GIFs
Each file arrives as its own message in the chat, one under the other, and the composer preview shows that order before you send.
LINE has no animated image format, so a GIF sent as an image would arrive as a single still frame. sona.to converts the GIF to video instead, and the animation is kept. The follower sees a preview image with a play control and taps it to watch.
Every image and video on LINE needs its own small preview image, which LINE does not create. sona.to generates them: the first frame for a video, a correctly sized copy for a photo. A photo that already fits is sent as it is.
What fits in one broadcast
One broadcast carries five items, and the caption is one of them. That leaves four files alongside the text.
The composer applies this when you save, with a message naming the limit, so you find out while you are writing rather than after the broadcast has gone out.
Photos are JPEG or PNG up to ten megabytes. Video is MP4 up to two hundred megabytes.
Timing
A broadcast lands in a personal chat list, so the hour it arrives matters more than on a feed. Most LINE accounts have their followers in Japan, Thailand or Taiwan, which is worth checking against your own time zone before you schedule.
