Social Media API: Post, Schedule and Read Analytics

The sona.to REST API lets your own code schedule posts, read analytics, upload files and run SEO audits. It is included on every plan, Free included.

A social media API lets your own code do what you would otherwise do by hand in a dashboard: publish and schedule posts, read the results and manage your files. The sona.to REST API does that for every channel you connect, and also reaches the SEO tools. It is included on every plan, Free included, and the REST API page sums it up.

What the sona.to API covers

The API follows the same things you work with in the app.

Channels and posts

List the channels connected to your workspace, then create a post for one or several of them, to publish now or at a date you set. Posts can be read, searched, edited and deleted, and each network's own options, such as the post type, can be sent with them.

Files

Upload images and videos to your media library and use them in posts. Large videos are uploaded straight to storage, so their size is not limited by a single request.

Analytics

Read the figures of a channel for a period, the same data its analytics page shows.

SEO, Rank Tracker and AI Visibility

Create SEO projects, run a site audit, read the pages and issues it found and generate the fix for an issue. Add keywords to the Rank Tracker and read their positions, and run the prompts of AI Visibility to see which AI assistants mention you.

How authentication works

Open the API page in your dashboard and create a token, read-only or with write access. Send it as a Bearer token in the Authorization header of each request. A token belongs to the workspace that was open when it was made, so it only reaches that workspace's data.

In a team, a member who works on chosen channels only reaches those channels through the API. A member whose posts need approval can still create posts: they go to the Approvals page instead of being published.

What people build with it

A few common uses:

A new article in your own CMS becomes a post on your channels the moment it is published. A row added to a spreadsheet becomes a scheduled post. Last week's figures land in a reporting sheet every Monday. An SEO audit starts after each update to your website, and its issues open as tasks.

Using the API without writing code

The same API sits behind the sona.to apps for n8n, Make and Zapier, so you can build these workflows by picking steps. To have sona.to tell your system when something happens, such as a post published or failed, add a webhook. To work with sona.to from Claude or ChatGPT, connect them through MCP.

Documentation

Every endpoint, parameter and response is documented at developers.sona.to, with examples you can try. Requests go to https://api.sona.to/v1.
