A Threads scheduler that does not flatten your post

The options change with the post

Threads does not offer every option on every post. A poll and long text are both text only, and they exclude each other. A spoiler needs media, so it cannot exist on a text post. A ghost post is text only too. These are the app's own rules, not ours.

What that usually produces in a scheduling tool is a wall of fields, most of them irrelevant, several of them quietly broken for the post you are actually writing.

Here the options are collapsed rows that show their current value at a glance. A row that cannot apply to what you are writing is hidden rather than left there to be clicked and refused. If it already holds a value and then stops applying, because you added an image to what was a text post, it stays visible and locked, so nothing you set disappears without you seeing it. Everything saves with the draft and is still there when you come back.

Two ways to say something long

Threads gives you two, and they are not interchangeable.

The first is long text: up to ten thousand characters in a single post, folded behind a Read more link, with bold, italic, underline, strikethrough and highlight, and an optional link at the end. It stays one post. Someone lands on it and reads the whole thing in place. Text only, and not alongside a poll.

The second is a chain, which is what people mean when they say a thread on Threads: a run of posts, each replying to the one above, read as a single piece. Write the parts in one composer and they publish as a native chain. Every part carries its own images and its own alt text, so each point can sit under the picture that belongs to it instead of pushing all the visuals to the end.

Which one fits depends on whether the piece wants to be read straight through or wants each beat to land separately and collect its own replies.

Posts that are not meant to stay

A ghost post disappears after twenty four hours and never appears on your profile. It is for the thing that is worth saying today and not worth keeping: a question you want answered this afternoon, a reaction to something that will be stale by Thursday, a note to the people already paying attention rather than to anyone who finds you later.

Scheduling one sounds like a contradiction and is not. A ghost post still wants to land when people are awake, and a twenty four hour clock that starts at 3am is most of its life spent in an empty room. Text only, since that is how Threads defines them.

Who can reply, and what happens when they do

Replies can be open to anyone, narrowed to people you follow, to people who follow you, to accounts you named in the post, or to just the author of the post you replied to. The setting is chosen while composing and travels with the scheduled post.

Separately, replies can be held for approval, so nothing appears under the post until you have looked at it. That is worth setting on anything going out while you are asleep or away, which is most of what a scheduling tool publishes.

Approving them happens on Threads itself. sona.to schedules the post and applies the setting; it does not manage your replies afterwards, not yet.

Spoilers, polls and topics

A spoiler hides attached media behind a tap, so a plot point or a result is there for people who want it and not forced on people who do not. It needs media, so it belongs to image and video posts.

A poll runs two to four options at forty characters each. Text only, and not with long text, since Threads treats both as what the post is rather than as decoration.

A topic attaches one Threads topic tag to the post, shown underneath it. One per post, which is the app's limit and a reasonable one.

Quoting, honestly

You can quote your own posts. Pick one from your recent Threads posts or paste a permalink, and it embeds as a quote rather than sitting in the text as a link.

Share links are not supported, so a link copied from the share sheet will not resolve. Use the permalink, the one you get from the post itself.

Timing

Threads rewards showing up often and sounding like a person, which is easy to say and hard to sustain when it is the fourth app competing for your attention. Scheduling is how the cadence holds through the weeks you are busy with something else.
