Bulk Scheduling: Plan Posts From a CSV File

Schedule dozens of social media posts at once from one CSV file. Each row holds the text, date, time, image and link of one post.

Bulk scheduling means planning many posts at once instead of one by one. In sona.to you fill one CSV file, one row per post, upload it, pick your channels and every row becomes a scheduled post. The bulk posting page sums it up.

How bulk scheduling works

Open the bulk posting page, download the template and fill it in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Each row is one post. Then choose the channels the posts go to, upload the file and save. A file of 20 rows sent to three channels creates 60 scheduled posts, each one visible in the calendar where you can still edit it.

What goes in each row

The template has these columns:

Text: the post itself. Commas inside the text are fine.

Year, Month, Day, Hour and Minutes: when the post is published. Hours go from 0 to 23.

Image URL: the address of an image or a video to attach. Leave it empty for a post without media.

Link: a link to share with the post. Leave it empty if there is none.

sona.to picks the post type from what the row contains: a post with media, a link post or a text post.

Rows without a date

A row with no date, or a date already past, is not lost. The first one goes out right away and the next ones follow at the interval you set on the page, for example one every hour. This is useful for a list of posts you want spread out without choosing each time.

Short links for every row

Turn on the URL shortener option and the links in your rows become short links that count their clicks. See the guide to short links with click analytics.

Tips for a clean import

Save the file as CSV. The template opens in columns in Excel in any language, and files saved with commas, semicolons or tabs are all read correctly.

Check the length of each text against the strictest network you post to. The character counter shows each network's limit.

Use image addresses that open the image directly, not a page that shows it.

When to use bulk scheduling

Bulk scheduling suits a launch week, a month of tips prepared in one sitting, a series of event reminders or a product catalogue shared one item per day. For posts that come from a blog or a news feed, RSS feeds do the same work without a file. For posts written one by one, the composer and its calendar are faster.

Frequently asked questions

Can each row go to different channels?

No. Every row goes to all the channels you selected for the file. To send different posts to different channels, split them into two files.

Can a row have several images?

One image or video per row. For a post with several images, use the composer.

Can I edit the posts after the import?

Yes. Each row becomes a normal scheduled post that you can open, change or delete in the calendar.
