1. What this covers
This page covers the SEO Inspector browser extension. The sona.to platform is covered by our main Privacy Policy. The extension has no account, no sign-in, and no connection to sona.to's servers.
2. What we collect
Nothing reaches us. There is no server behind this extension. It runs inside your browser, and we have no way of knowing which pages you inspect or that you are using it at all. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no advertising identifier.
It does keep a small amount of information on your own computer so it can tell you what changed on a page since last time. Section 4 covers that.
3. The requests it makes
Opening the extension on a page makes four requests, and no others:
- the site's
robots.txt - the site's
llms.txt, checked with a HEAD request that reads only whether the file exists - a fresh copy of the page's own HTML, which is how it shows you what a crawler sees before JavaScript runs
- the image named in the page's
og:imagetag, loaded to measure its real dimensions
The first three go to the site you are already visiting, and carry that site's cookies exactly as your browser would when loading any page there. The fourth goes wherever the tag points, which on many sites is a CDN on a different address.
None of these requests reach sona.to. We receive nothing from any of them.
4. What is stored on your device
Each time you inspect a page, the extension saves a summary of it: the title, meta description, canonical URL, first H1, up to twelve H2 headings, the counts of words, headings, links, images and structured data blocks, the structured data types found, the og:image address, the number of findings, and the score.
It uses chrome.storage.local, which lives on your machine. This never syncs, is not tied to your browser profile or Google account, and is not uploaded anywhere. Up to five snapshots are kept per page address and up to 300 addresses in total, with the oldest discarded as new ones arrive.
You can see what's stored: it's the "Changed since" section in the panel. Dismiss clears a page's history, uninstalling clears everything.
5. Permissions
Three permissions, and no host permissions.
- activeTab reads the page you are on, only when you click the toolbar icon
- scripting runs the inspection code on that page
- storage saves the snapshots above
Without host permissions it cannot read pages in the background, cannot reach tabs you have not opened it on, and holds no standing access to any site. The only thing it changes on a page is a temporary outline around an element while you hover a finding.
6. Store requirements
This extension is on the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons and Microsoft Edge Add-ons. Our use of information received through it complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. On Firefox, it declares that it collects nothing, which you can see at install and under Permissions and Data in about:addons.
